Segment No. 136 -- Mt. 22:41-46; Mk. 12:35-37; Lk. 20:41-44

Title:  Yeshua, the Son of Davis

Mt. 22:41  While the Pharisees were gathered together, Yeshua asked them,
Mk. 12:35a  Then Yeshua answered and said, while He taught in the Temple,

Mt. 22:42  Saying, “What do you think about the Christ?  Whose Son is He?”  They said to Him, “The Son of David.”
Mk. 12:35b  “How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David?”
Lk. 20:41  And He said to them, “How can hey say that the Christ is David’s Son?”

Mt. 22:43 He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying :”
Mk. 12:36a  “For David himself said by the Holy Spirit:”
Lk. 20:42a  “Now David himself said in the Book of Psalms,”

Mt. 22:44a  “‘ The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,”’‘
Mk. 12:36b  “‘The Lord said to My Lord, “Sit at my right hand,”’”
Lk. 20:42b  “‘The Lord said to My Lord, Sit at My right hand,”’

Mt. 22:44b  “Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
Mk. 12:36c “ Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
Lk. 20:43  “Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”

Source: Psalm 110:1

Mt. 22:45  “If David then calls Him ‘Lord,” how is He his Son?”
Mk. 12:37  “Therefore David himself calls Him ‘Lord;’ how is He then His Son?’  And the common people heard Him gladly.

Mt. 22:46 And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.

The problem with the Pharisees is they do not comprehend as yet the concept of the God-Man.  The Messiah was to be both God and man, fully God, and fully man at the same time.  As to His humanity, He was David’ son.  As to His deity, He was David’s Lord.  This is the end of the testing of the Lord’s Passover Lamb.  He has been found without spot and blemish and they dare to question Him no more.
