Mk. 15:42b Because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath.
Jn. 19:31 Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for the Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
Jn. 1932 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him.
Fulfilled Prophecy: None of His bones were broken (Exodus 12:46; Psalm 34:20)
Jn. 19:33 But when they came to Yeshua and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.
Jn. 19:35 And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe.
Jn. 19:36 For these things were done that the Scriptures should be fulfilled, “Not one of His bones should be broken.”
Here John quoted Exodus 12:46. In the context of Exodus, Moses was dealing with a historical event that had to do with the Passover lamb that would save the Jews from the last plague. In the process of slaughtering the lamb, and then roasting and eating it, the instruction was that not a bone of that Passover lamb was to be broken. The Passover lamb was a type of the Messiah who is Yeshua our Passover (I Corin. 5:7). During the process of His death by means of crucifixion, while the bones of the others were broken, the bones of this One were not broken. This was a fulfillment in a typical sense, not in a literal, prophetic sense.

Fulfilled Prophecy: The Messiah’s body would be pierced (Zechariah 12:10a)
Jn. 19:34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
This verse has an incredible meaning that few Christians grasp the meaning of. Hebrews 9:22 says, “And according to the law almost all things are purged with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no remission.” In Jewish purification rituals blood was used for almost every type of cleansing. But there were a few instances where blood could not be used (baptism for instance). In these cases, water was used symbolically in the place of blood. When both blood and water came forth from Yeshua’s side, this told the people that this was the complete sacrifice. All sins were cleansed by His sacrifice on the cross. There is no such thing today as an unforgivable sin, unless you don’t ask for forgiveness. His death on the cross provided complete atonement for all.

The Rabbis felt no misgivings in applying the verse in Zechariah to the Messiah, “They shall look unto Me because they have thrust him through. They shall mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son.”
Mt. 27:57a Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Yeshua.
Mk. 15:42a Now when evening had come,
Lk. 23:50 And behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man.
Mk. 15:43a Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the Kingdom of God, coming and taking courage,
Lk. 23:51 He had not consented to their counsel and deed. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who himself was also waiting for the Kingdom of God.
Mt. 27:58 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Yeshua. Then Pilate commanded the body be given to him.
Mk. 15:43b Went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Yeshua.
Lk. 23:52 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Yeshua.
Jn. 19:38a After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Yeshua, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Yeshua; and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took the body of Yeshua.
Mk. 15:44 Pilate marveled that He was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if He had been dead for some time.
Mk. 15:45 And when he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
Jn. 19:39 And Nicodemus, who first came to Yeshua by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.
Mt. 27:59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth.
Mk. 15:46a Then he brought fine linen, took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen..
Lk. 23:53a Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen.
Jn. 19:40 Then they took the body of Yeshua, and bound it with strips of linen with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.
Jn. 19:41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.
Mt. 27:60 And laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed.
Mk. 15:46b And he laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out of rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.
Lk. 23:53b And laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before.
Jn. 19:41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.
Jn. 19:42 So there they laid Yeshua, because of the Jew’s Preparation Day, for the tomb was nearby.
